    Mexico City, Mexico

With a population of 23 million people, Mexico City accounts for 18% of Mexico’s $1 trillion economy. It is the political, business, cultural and infrastructure center of the nation. By itself, Mexico City produces a GDP nearly as large as Chile. Its per capita income is twice the national average. Mexico is the third largest trading partner of the United States (behind Canada and China) and is a vital link in the global supply chains of many U.S. and Canadian companies.

Mexico City enjoys a strategic position in the heart of the hemisphere—with non-stop air service from more than 25 U.S. and Canadian cities. From 2000 to 2010, Mexico City attracted an average of 55% of Mexico’s total foreign direct investment. Mexico City was ranked the 28th most dynamic city in the world by Foreign Policy magazine, ranking second in Latin America behind São Paulo but ahead of Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Lima. A 2011 study by the McKinsey Global Institute said two Latin American cities—Mexico City and São Paulo—will together account for 10% of the region’s GDP growth between 2007 and 2025.

Mexico is one of the world’s great business destinations: an open and transparent economy with trade agreements with 44 world markets, a business-friendly investment regime, strong industrial and export capacity, a wealth of natural resources, with a growing middle-class consumer market and skilled workforce. As the country’s economic heart, Mexico City is consistently ranked as one of the world’s 25 most important economic centers by global business consultancies and media.

Mexico City is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate. You can find the current weather forecast on
